QA services for startups and SMBs that ship every week
We take ownership of quality for teams without a QA function, or with one that can't keep up. Pick a one-off Playwright suite in your CI, or AI agents that test every release under senior review.
QA services are the work of making sure software does what it should before your customers find out it doesn’t: deciding what to test, testing it, automating the repeatable parts and reporting bugs clearly enough to fix. Quick Brains provides QA services for startups and SMBs that have no QA function, or have one that can’t keep up with how often they ship.
We work in one of two ways, and you can start with either. QA automation is a one-off project that leaves you with a Playwright test suite running in your CI. Agentic QA is an ongoing service where AI agents test every release and a senior QA engineer reviews everything they find.
What goes wrong without a QA function
Most small engineering teams don’t decide to skip QA. It just never becomes anyone’s job. These are the situations we hear about most often on intro calls:
- Developers test their own changes. They test on their own machine, with their own data, the way they expect the feature to be used. The bug that ships is the one nobody thought to check: the discount code on mobile Safari, or the signup form for a customer with an apostrophe in their name.
- A release breaks checkout on a Friday evening. Nothing alerts you. You find out from a customer email on Monday, after a weekend of lost orders.
- Your one QA engineer is a bottleneck. They spend the week clicking through the same regression checklist and still can’t cover every release, so the team starts shipping without waiting.
- The test suite nobody trusts. Someone wrote Cypress or Selenium tests two years ago. They fail randomly, so everyone ignores them, including the day they catch a real bug.
- The enterprise question. A large prospect sends a security questionnaire asking how you test before releasing, and the honest answer is “we’re careful”.
How our QA services work
We take responsibility for quality, not just for running tests. In practice that means deciding with you which user flows matter most, covering them with automated end-to-end tests, keeping those tests trustworthy, and turning failures into bug reports your developers can act on. There are two ways to buy it.
QA automation: a one-off setup you own
We build a Playwright end-to-end suite for your critical flows (signup, login, checkout, the core feature people pay for), wire it into GitHub Actions or GitLab CI so it runs on every pull request, and hand it over with documentation. Your team owns and maintains it afterwards. Maintenance from us is optional. See QA automation services for the details.
Agentic QA: testing as an ongoing service
AI agents record your critical flows, generate and maintain the tests, repair them when the UI changes, and file bug reports with steps to reproduce, severity and video. A senior QA engineer reviews every test change and every report before it reaches you. It starts with a two-to-three-week pilot and continues as a monthly retainer. See agentic QA for how it works.
Which one should you pick?
| Compared | QA automation | Agentic QA |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Teams with developers who will own the tests | Teams where nobody has time to own testing |
| Who maintains the tests | Your team (or us, on an optional retainer) | Us and our agents |
| Bug reports | Failing tests in CI | Triaged reports with repro steps and video |
| How it’s priced | Fixed price per project | Fixed-price pilot, then monthly retainer |
Pick QA automation if your developers have some capacity, your UI changes at a moderate pace, and you want a one-off investment. Pick agentic QA if your UI changes every week, nobody on the team wants to maintain tests, or you want bug reports rather than red builds. You can also start with automation and move to agentic QA later: the suite we build becomes the starting point for the agents.
How we work with you
- Intro call (30 minutes). You show us the product and the flows that make you money. We tell you which option fits, or whether you need us at all.
- Fixed-scope proposal. Within two business days you get the list of flows we will cover, the timeline and a fixed price.
- Setup (week 1). We get access to staging, test accounts and CI, and map each critical flow step by step.
- Delivery (weeks 2–3). Tests run in your CI, or the agentic QA pilot starts filing reports. You see progress in your repository as it happens.
- Handover or ongoing. We hand over the suite with documentation and a walkthrough, or continue on a monthly retainer.
What you do: give us a staging environment, test accounts and CI access, and name one person who can answer product questions within a day. What we do: test design, test code, CI setup, triage, bug reports and documentation.
What you get
- A written test plan of your critical user flows, ranked by business risk
- Automated end-to-end tests in Playwright and TypeScript, in your repository, running in your CI
- Bug reports with steps to reproduce, expected and actual results, severity, environment and video
- Clear reporting on what was tested, what failed and what to fix first
- Handover documentation so your developers can run, read and extend the tests
Who our QA services are for
A good fit:
- Startups and SMBs whose developers currently do all the testing
- Teams that ship weekly or more often
- Web products where a broken flow costs money: SaaS signup and billing, e-commerce checkout, bookings, marketplaces
- Teams preparing for enterprise customers who ask how releases are tested
Not a good fit:
- Teams looking for a large manual testing team to run scripted test cases by hand
- Native iOS or Android apps: we test web applications, including on mobile browsers
- Projects that require formally certified test processes, such as medical device validation
Pricing
We don't publish prices, because scope depends on your product. After a 30-minute call you get a fixed price in writing, before any work starts. No hourly billing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between QA services and QA automation?
QA services is the whole job of making sure your product works before customers use it, including deciding what to test, testing it and reporting bugs. QA automation is one part of that job, where tests are written as code and run automatically. Our QA services include automation, and with agentic QA we also take on the ongoing testing and bug triage.
Do we need a QA engineer on our side to work with you?
No. Most of our clients don't have one. We need a staging environment, test accounts, and one person on your team who can answer product questions within a day. Your developers fix the bugs we report; we do the rest.
Which tools do you use?
Playwright with TypeScript for end-to-end tests, running in GitHub Actions or GitLab CI. Bug reports go into the tracker you already use, such as Jira, Linear or GitHub Issues. Everything we write lives in your repository, so nothing is locked into a tool of ours.
Can you work with our existing Cypress or Selenium tests?
Yes. We start by reviewing what you have. If the suite is stable, we extend it. If it is flaky and nobody trusts it, we usually recommend moving the flows that matter to Playwright rather than patching it, and we explain why in writing before you decide.
Is software QA outsourcing safe for our code and data?
We sign an NDA and a GDPR data processing agreement before we get access. We test against staging with test accounts, not production customer data, and we ask for the minimum permissions we need. We are based in the EU, in Timișoara, Romania.
Do you also do manual testing?
We do exploratory testing as part of every engagement, because some bugs only show up when a person pokes at the product. We don't offer large teams of manual testers working through thousands of scripted test cases. If that is what you need, we are not the right fit.
